Suppose you have no electric, no gas oven, no open fire or BBQ, how will you cook a Jacket spud?

Pub sounds good.
I know you can get a proper Dutch oven but can you use a heavy pan (cast iron) with lid, does it need a diffuser under it?

On and off for many years.
If you are on the move wrap the spuds in foil and put in the slow cooker which is running from the inverter.

If you are going to use an inverter, I would think a small microwave would be as good as owt, I know t says no bbq but you could get a disposable one , plenty good enough for a couple of tatas

In the absence of being able to get a double skillet, a quality pan with a tight fitting lid should do instead, you don't want one too big as it will take too long to heat up.

About 6 hours. I rub with oil and salt (or salt substitute). It's amazing what you can do in a slow cooker but get one that doesn't need liquid in it. I've baked cakes and bread in mine...... about two hours for each but it needs trial and error to get right!

A microwave pulls a lot of power though. My slow cooker only pulls 90W so my cheap Lidl inverter works great.

Thanks Puddleduck, I'll have to give it a go at home first (or rather 'instruct' hubby on what to do! :D ) as it would be nice to be able to have a jacket spud for a change on holiday as I do get fed up of mash / chips / tinned spuds etc after a while and the thought of a nice jacket spud smothered in butter, cheese and coleslaw, does appeal .... not toooooo often though!!

Wrap it in silver foil then walk around all day with it under your arm. :D
Or down your trousers but be careful when you adjust the position to get it evenly cooked and remove before heating to crisp the outside
