we are enjoying ourselves whilst travelling around the coastlines of mainland Europe.
The bucket list includes visiting the 4 excitement points of the continent, and the next on the list is Punta de Tarifa ( southern most point at N36 00 15)

Can anyone help with parking areas in Tarifa itself? Any possible places to sneak an overnighter?

Avoid Tarifa at least for the next few days. Very strong Poniente winds today. Tarifa is windy in calm days, today I would think it a nightmare.
(Windy enough in La Linea where we are currently.)

Thanks for above.
Is that Valdevaqueros camp site (ASCI book ref 2816) just off the N340 north of Tarifa?

Which Lagos are you referring to

Heard the expression used loads of times but never realised what it was except that it was a distance thing in war films etc.

Thanks for all the help. We were at Tarifa today and boy was it windy. Now tucked up free camping on the beaches just north of the town with like minded people. Decent sunset

Many thanks. I wouldn't have thought that, I guess it is because the lines of longitude get closer together as you travel further north. A bit like the most western part of the British mainland is Ardnamurchan point in Argyll, not somewhere in Cornwall which is where you might think it would be looking at a typical road atlas. :)

Have a look up in the air when you are in that area. The bird migration kicks off in February so you should see the first of the storks and many others. Some of the smaller birds might be flitting from tree to tree, the others will be soaring - unless the wind is blowing from the north! :)

There will be hotspots to view from (see link) but something the size of a stork is easy to spot from anywhere - they fly with legs and neck outstretched, a bit like a flying cross.

Neither would I, my guess would have been Istanbul, funny things happen when you try and project globes onto flat surfaces :)

If you thinks it's windy at Gabo, you've seen nothing yet. The van was rockin and rolling last night, but not for the reasons I'd hoped for;)
