Hi - Does anyone have suggestions for ladders to take away with them - we have a garage where can can store it. Why do we need a ladder? - we are off to do some skiing so are concerned about roof snow.

If you have any suggestion I'd be interested to hear them.

Haven't got one yet but thought this type would be good to store in the van

We have got one similar to link by @Old Soldier
Look on Amazon and eBay. Quality varies as does weight and price.
We first saw the collapsible sort at a show as a supposedly reduced price to Amazon - hogwash!
We have ours for skiing, and believe it or not so far on 4 ski trips have not needed it - just been lucky with the weather and not needed to clear roof, but wouldn't be without it.
Also great for cleaning all the winter gubbings and leaves off the roof.
Stores easily in motorhome garage

We bought a 3.2m "surveyor's ladder" like the one linked to above when it was on offer from Screwfix - i.e. a good quality version. This is long enough to gain easy and safe access to the roof of our MH. This has never yet been necessary in an emergency yet, but the rationale for taking this with us is in case of needing to clean the solar panels or apply temporary duct-tape repair to a roof-light in the event of water leaking in.

Wouldn't the snow give extra insulation?

Leave it there, spend the money on beer :)

Any snow will move when you do surely, if you have your Alde set as we do it will melt on contact anyway

When i first seen one of those fold away ones i was thinking, yeah cheap rubbish that will fold down on you. I had to get the council in and a fat lad turned up with one and used it all day to get in and out my loft. Had a play with it myself and was well impressed.

Far more versatile as you can use it free standing too

Thanks guys I had seen the collapsible ones and wasn't too sure about them. I like Techno's ladder and funnily enough I have just bought some of the attachment bits to attach the bungee too on the underside of the bed board. I was quote £12.60 for a Rapido one so bought some from ebay for 90p each!. That price hike is worse than boat bits!

This sort would be my first choice to take around in a MH/Camper - they are lightweight and fold into a single 'post' so easy to store.

They don't extend for getting on the roof. Also at only 5 treads (actually rungs) they are only relatively safely useable on four at best

Bought at a show (Malvern) some time ago.

They are much more affordable now.

JJ
I have one like that JJ. Only problem is when it comes to folding it away I seem incapable of doing it without trapping a finger or some other part of my hand!
It's been used every week for the last four weeks here in Morocco to clean the sand off the solar panels! (It's been pretty windy down in Dakhla on the edge of the desert)

I'm sure it is only a light hearted commentas is Notakwak's but;

Some Alpine countries have police that get very hot if you are driving along as a mobile snowstorm. There is a requirement to clear loose snow from your car before moving off.
