Over voltage from solar panels (1 Viewer)

I have this kit wired to my starter battery and my two domestics.
It's working a treat and charging the battery's easily.
The problem is that the voltage to the start battery is occasionally going over voltage - to 16.2 volts.
The supplies sez the voltage can increase because of a low ambient temperature, I'm not convinced.
Any ideas peeps?

What's the voltage reading on the habitation batteries... I'm reading it that both battery banks are connected to the the charge controler... and would expect to see the same voltage on both battery banks.
And have you confirmed that voltage with a meter...

The first link is to a single outlet pwm controler with remote panel and the 2nd to a dual output controler ... which is it...???

If it is charging two banks . as stated in op ,it should be the link for the duo .
Also you can decide the ratio of charge (50/50% etc the default is 80% start batt /20% aux batt) according to my paperwork .
Unless others know different :)

Yes that makes sense.. I'm not sure how a dual output works and whether it regulates the load voltages separately
My habitation batteries are connected to a single outlet mppt controler but then to the vehicle battery through a voltage sensing relay and I see both voltages the same on each battery bank... hence my question above...
16.2v does seem excessive for the load voltage...

I have the remote also as part if the system ,which sometimes give figures that I don't believe ,so have a digital readout plug in which shows a steady 14.2v (200w solar panel) in hot Clime's it usually gets around 14.8v I'm happy with that :)

I am getting 14.2 ish to the leisure battery's continually. I have it set to to 50/50 at the moment and the leisure are fully charged now - as is the start - I think!
Just not happy with it going up to 16.1V at times.
I could try swapping the connections to the start with the domestics and see what happens.

That is the way I have it set up but because you can alter the bias from 20/80% to 80/20% it shouldn't make any difference.

As an ex electrician I have been using a multi meter nearly all my life. This one is a Fluke 77 series
The Electrobloc panel shows the start battery voltage off the scale (+15V) when I measure the starter battery with my meter its is at 16.2 V
The voltage on the panel for the domestics shows 14.4V and the same with the meter.

I haven't measured the current reading but the amp meter shows +4/6A from 250W of solar panels (bright sunshine but in Derbyshire)

The controller settings also has a 'frequency setting' but doesn't explain what this refers to.

Not long enough, but a little common sense helps..........
Have you tried swapping over the output from A to B and see what reading you get then? remember to cover solar panel before removing wires

I don't believe you should ever see over 14.5v-ish. IMO the controller is faulty.

Why I said "-ish". Different charge regimes by different chargers vary the boost by a few tenths of a volt but none approach 15 never mind 16+.

@Stealaway - Well how it it go?

I new I was good - but!

I tackled the solar controller today and while I was swapping the wires over I thought I'd disconnect it entirely and take off the back .
Looking at the circuit board I noticed resistor R47 that wasn't quite straight. As soon as I touched it - it fell off!
Bugger - surface mounted resistor. I went down to the local electronic shop and they identified it as a 2K ohm resistor and sold me two for 10P. Now I just need to solder it to the panel.
No problem. Controller now up and running a treat.
