It depends on what your towbar is rated at. The bike and rack will be about 210kg which is a lot. Which Bolero are you getting?
My 724FB has a Towtall bar rated at 150kg which I used to put a Gilera 200 (129kg) on an Eastlifter standard rack (30kg) total 159kg ( yes slightly overloading the towbar but it is built to take double the rated load). This added about 250kg to the rear axle load due to the overhang but well within the 970kg payload and left another 80kg axle weight even with a full water tank.
The reason I use a trailer now ( and my 1150GS) is that the rack was technically too long for a fixed overhang by 120mm as the maximum allowed is 60% of the wheelbase.

Living the dream.
the load put on your rear axle that will bugger you up. There is a maximum weight including all your gear then you have to take in the fulcrum effect caused by the distance from the rear axle to your bike and rack and it's pretty big. If you notice the rack in the advert the rack is quite close to the axle of the Volvo so the fulcrum effect will be much less.

I need so expert advice on maximum weights etc
Andrew

We need two measurements: Wheelbase, distance from rear wheel centre to centre of bike, a good estimate will do.

The you need to get to a weighbridge and get the two axle weights, don't trust anything in the book.

After that it will be "bollooooooooooooox" or "yippppeeeeeeeeeeeeeee".

Has anyone had any experience with this rack/trailer

Do a search on this forum, I'm sure there were negative comments some time in the past. I may be wrong.

The really neat way to avoid weight problems is one of those ( French ? ) close coupled trailers with castering wheels. Then again I recall a UK version that was a disaster. This solution is expensive.

As Brian has said, you need to get all the actual weights and dimensions, including the actual axle weights. According the the brochure in your first post, the 680fb has only 450kg payload to start with. If you add probably 250kg or more at the back, there will be very little left for any other gear inside. Unless the van has been updated of course from the standard 3,500 kg GVW.

Do what we did. Bike rack on back and carry a little 125. We have gone away from trailer with 650 Suzuki. We have found the 125 is fine for round trips of upto 30 miles or shopping with 40ltr back box. Wife is now 68 so we don't go as far as we used to.

You don't want to hear this but you are buying the wrong MH if you want to carry a bike on the back on a rack! The only way you'll be able to take it is to put it on a trailer of some sort .. sorry.

At 3500kg gross with a payload of 450kg the rear axle will defiantly be well overloaded.

Very true, this is your only legal option really as even with a much lighter bike, the payload is not enough.

Yes that should work so long as there's enough spare capacity for the downwards weight of the coupling/bike on the towbar, but won't be anything like that for just carrying the weight completely on the back as per just a rack.

This trailer is fixed to the van using an adaptor plate.

However it is attached the point I was making is that the weight it places on the back will need to be taken into account for the rear axle loading.
