Hello all.

I'm not so old and certainly don't feel old, but the years are racing by.

History:

Many years of travelling in a plain VW van with just a bed in the back, solar showers to keep clean and a BBQ for cooking.

Graduated to a caravan with such luxuries like, hot water, a shower, a cooker and a fridge!

95% of the time was wild camping, my true love, mostly in France and Spain,.

Now I’m coming back but looking to have more adventures but with a little refinement, hence the purchase of an A Class van.

I’ve not travelled on the continent for some time. I have lots of good memories but home to find the answers to some of my lingering question before I load onto a ferry to Europe.

Sounds like you have lots of stories

Yes, mostly from wildcamping somewhere that I shouldn't have.

This one is from a stay in a 'grazing' field along the Camino Real in Central Spain;

Every morning the farmer's wife would drive the cows out to graze on the public land.

Cows being cows they were nosey and would come over to investigate and lick the van!

The cowherd would stick her head around the door and shout 'Hola.' During the second week of the stay she would bring us a jug of fresh milk. Now it may not have been pasteurised but it tasted better than the common long life UHT available in the shops.

We could normally stay for about four weeks before the Guardia Civil started to visit and suggest it was time to move on.

Mornings could be frosty;

So then we would move on to some private land, on this trip it was a piece of land that a local was turning into an airstrip, so for a few man hours work we were allowed to stay;

Great times.

Hang gliders but they often seemed to be very expensive windbreaks!
