Snow socks (1 Viewer)

Has anybody used Snow Socks as oposed to Snow Chains?
We intend to head to Spain in Feb sometime and driving over the Pyreneeseand think it is sensible to carry one or the other. Socks are lighter and easier to fit but do they do the job?

I bought some. only because they were going cheap online somewhere..
Never used in anger as yet, still behind the drivers seat.,
Better than nothing to get out of a fix but if it's that bad my plan is to park and put the telly and kettle on !!

I am in Austria presently. Have snow socks but never used. Have to say snow tyres work brilliantly. Tried a controlled emergency stop on snow/ice where there was plenty of room and came quickly to halt with no ABS. Very impressed.

Just so that I am certain I will watch it a few times.... Better safe than sorry !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi I have used snow socks and used to carry them before getting winter tyres... They helped me on two occasions get some traction and get out of snow on the roadside which had caused one of the rear wheels to loose it's grip.. worked both times but always seems a haste fitting them in the conditions..and then removing them when you got out and back on the road.. but better than been stuck...

Putting snow chains on? I've watched it 15 times, can't remember her putting snow chains on.........
Oh, wait, just watched it again, they were in a box....
Anyway, I showed it to Mrs A and said when she puts the chains on next time she has to wear similar clothing, I guess it's a safety issue so you don't get sleeves and loose trousers caught in the chains.

They do all the way up to trucks
My suggestion would be socks cos they are easy to get on, and carry chains if the socks struggle

Chains are much less effort I reckon. And they work better!

Earlier when I was looking I found "polar" brand heavy duty 16mm chains..
Lucky me, my sister works for the distribution company so I will give her 2 bottles of cheap wine , in return I will get 25-30% off. . Win win

The Polar ones are great kit for the money.

I recommed them for occasional users such as motorhomers.

Issue may be everyone wanting different sizes and then cost of shipping BUT leave it with me...

snow socks of any sort are a simply get you moving on flat terrain or around a town with a light covering of snow.
Chains are essential in heavy snowfall. The last time I fitted mine I caused a multi pile up behind me.Mind you I think that was the fault of.........

All the drivers where so busy laughing they couldn't drive.
