Is it acceptable to use a "Milton" type product to clean the cold water tank on its annual clean out?

I bought a packet of Aquatabs when we bought our first van in 2006 and still have some left. Even out of date they work OK. I put a couple in for the first fill of the year then flush it through the system until when I sip the water it tastes just like it has come out of the house tap. For the rest of the year the system takes care of itself.

We flush system through with sterilising solution . Worked well for us so far . We use bottled water for drinking /cooking though.

A definite NO according to Truma as it damages the hot water boiler.
There are preparatory fresh water tank cleaners that are safe for Motorhomes and Truma boilers

just use chlorinated tap water it does the job for free .
if you have used dirty water . fill tank with good tap water and flush out . fill up and away you go.

Living the dream.
Milton aledgedly leaves a residue if left for a while in the pipe work. Plenty of other stuff out there.(y)

Thanks to all, very good advice. I did not realise that Milton could potential damage boilers!
