good evening, we have previously owned a Hymer Exsis in which we could leave the control panel on indefinitely with no noticeable effect on the leisure battery. It also appeared to run the TV without any effect on the battery.

We have now upgraded to a a 2 year old Autotrail Tracker EKS and don't appear to be getting the same service out of the leisure battery. Examples

After charging the battery and then leaving the panel on for 4 days the panel reports 11.8 volts and fair, this must have dropped from 13volts.

We also find that using the TV and basic lighting and fan on fire reduces the battery voltage by approximately 2volts per hour.

We are considering fitting a second leisure battery due to the power losses experienced however we feel that these losses are tremendous compared to our old van and wondered how this compares to other similar vans.

Many thanks for your advice in advance.

Perhaps you should get your battery checked and your charger .

As Ash says..
You have a 2 year old van but have no idea what the previous owners have done to the batteries..
If you were asking this question having good batteries I could offer a few pointers ie, EC500 unit has a steady drain of around 0.2amps so over time does drain unless you have a solar panel and the sargent unit is switched in a certain way..

Battery check first...

Thanks for that. 4 days drain at 0.2amps per hour would be 20% of 100amp hour battery, that would about explain it
