Hello everyone,

I've been lurking here for a month or two now and enjoy the banter you have between yourselves. You all have an enormous wealth of knowledge on the subject of motorhomes and I'd like to tap into that if its OK? I'm looking for a 2nd hand motor home with an end lounge and 2/4 berth. I've taken holidays in France for a few years now and enjoyed it immensely, so I guess the progression would be for me to take longer and longer breaks away. I think a motorhome would provide the best solution. So I'll keep looking in the classifieds and let you know how I'm getting on.

Regards

Phil

Use google and ebay to find hundreds for sale. You come across a load of sales sites as well as dealers.

Worst part is the dealers, from absolute gems like John's Cross to absolute crooks. Best go in expecting to be stuffed then anything is an improvement. One thing to avoid "Oh we'll fix that later". Never take delivery with that hanging over you. Never pay until you are certain it's in the condition you expect. If any hint of doubt, run away.

Welcome

Welcome ::bigsmile:

I have only been here a few months myself and have really appreciated all the help and friendship I have received so far :Smile:

Our van has an end lounge and sleeps 4 so why not take a look, it's our first one so it's a great starter van (also LEZ exempt, even after 2012!) and was a very good price for a 6yr old, there are a few of them around on the 2nd hand market; we love him! :thumb:

Many thanks for the welcome messages.

Elvis:
On my shortlist are the Elldis Autoquest 400RL and the Compass equivalent.

More questions:

When is the perceived best time of the year to buy (if there is one)?

If a Motorhome is for sale for £20k (for example) at a dealers how much of a reduction is reasonable to expect when paying cash wth no part exchange? I know you can't be specific but a ball park figure would help.

Many thanks for your advice. :thumb:
