Any recommendations on ferry to Ireland (1 Viewer)

Happy new year folks.

Any recommendations for a ferry to Ireland from our starting point of Bradford West Yorkshire?

Holyhead, Liverpool. How long does each take?
Thinking of the end of Jan, just for a week unfortunately

Google the route from Heysham, if you don't have a dog as I don't think you can take them on this route. It's 8 hrs and only once a day

Its a bit expensive for just one week have you priced the crossing? we went from Holyhead were in Tees-side. You cross in under 3 hrs.

We use Pembroke Dock as 'daan saarf' but if you have any Tesco vouchers they make the cost less painful.

Hi the shortest route would be via Cairnryan into either Belfast or Larne.. depending on whether you sail with stena or p&o.. my van is under 6m and at this time year I would expect to get an economy ticket for £89 or less...
Thats on way .. sailing time about 2 hrs...
It's an option for you to consider depending what parts you want to visit..

We ain't even thought about an intenary whilst over there, just fancy 7/10 days off, and Ireland cropped up.
Prefer a departure from near to us, hey sham Liverpool, will have a look at Google, cheers folk

Well done it, Holyhead to Dublin weird times but it will do, return home in dark but again it will do. Now need to plan at least the first nights stop.
Any ideas, suggestions.

Hi Andy, I use that route when on the bike regularly, the "slow" boat takes 4.5hrs approx., fast boat is 3hrs if its running, weather allowing.

don't know the price for a MH, bike and 2, is £120 return, depending on the time of year.

for me, I`d get away from Dublin, I have a real soft spot for the west of Ireland, plan to go in the MH myself sometime this year, have identified quite a few wild camping spots I`d like to take advantage of.

Hi and thanks ...years since I've used the Holyhead crossing... used it when i went to fish the wicklow beaches...just south of Dublin.
Did the south and west coast of Ireland 3 yrs ago in my camper but sailed Fishguard rosslare for that trip... would love to make time to do it again...

It was £400 return, 8m MH, 01:25 depart, 13:00 return

We drove south to Bray, about half an hour. There was a few other MH's parked up for the night at the south end of the car park.
We even stopped on the way back to the ferry. No charge for over night but you need to buy a ticket in the morning if your staying a bit longer.

There is a camp site in Dublin itself , but it was a bit pricey over ten years ago when we were there! if you want to walk around Dublin itself it is probably worth it , but we didnt.

Just returned having spent Christmas and New Year in Ireland. Went via Holyhead/Dublin with Stena, 4 adults, 1 child, 9m long + 4m trailer, £710.00 return. Crossing time just under 3.5 hours.
Irish ferries run the same route at much the same cost (Liverpool crossing is approx 8 hours).
The whole country is VERY wet at present, so stopping places are limited. Be careful if you have a long overhang when coming off the Stena ferry at Holyhead, I have grounded every time.

Take a spare RH door mirror if you intend to go off the motorways. Many many roads are quite tight if you meet a van coming the other way and are sometimes tight if only a car. We didn't need our spare but sometimes more by luck than judgement.

We really liked the aire at Cobh, right on the water facing the vast harbour with water traffic, 5 minute walk to the railway station into Cork, one of the best museums we have visited (Irish immigration story was fascinating) next to the station and the old town has character.
Was also the last place the Titanic sailed from the museum covers this too.

Irish people were fabulous but driving a lot of the time through narrow lanes in a motorhome became wearing so would debate taking a motorhome again if we wanted to drive away from main routes.
