Planning a over nighter here on Friday night. Setting off in the morning for Par in Cornwall for a week.
What is this area like and is safe?
Do you need to sleep with a 9 iron and one eye open after dark?
Is there any cost involved as its a carpark i think, not sure.:thumb:

Hi Mark
Stayed there recently.
The car-park warden warned-us that sometimes boy-racers go-in and show-off their skills! but if you swing the gate closed about 9pm they think it's locked and go elsewhere.
You do have to pay during the day but if you pay the full amount (ÂŁ3,50 all-day i think)
it'll sort you for 24hrs so you won't have to get-up early to get your ticket.
The trains finish about 11pm and start again about 8ish.
Lovely walk into dawlish along the prom.
3 miles down the road you've got Teignmouth where you can stay overnight in the car-park on the hill, pretty town :thumb:

regards...nige

If given the choice which place would you rather spend the night in?

Dawlish is much flatter - Teignmouth has more going on but mostly the carpark is on a slope.

BW

PS Give Torbay a miss or take your chances with the NCP mafia.

We ended up spending the Friday night at Teignmouth. We arrived at 1700hrs and the car park was empty. We had to pay for a hours parkings untill six when it became free.(about 75p)
As you enter the car park we parked on the far lefthand side backing onto the railway line and lido. Plenty of trains passing behind us which stopped at 2245hrs, well thats the last one we heard before falling asleep.
There are toilets in the car park for water which were locked at 2230 by a bloke in a van.
We walked the dog on the beach which is about 3 minutes away on foot. Walk along the sea front and there is plenty of choices for eating out.

Kids did gather at the car park entrance where there is a phone box and remained there until we fell asleep. They did make a bit of noise but nobody bothered us.

We would stay there again no problems at all. Thankyou all for getting us there
