Water point connectors (1 Viewer)

We are planning a trip to France and Spain in January,which connectors do you people take with you to connect to the water points on Aires and sites.?

We have managed with the standard ones that come with a hose. Ours has the regular fit, with the screw in adaptor to make it smaller.
I have seen that a few people on here have had issues in France with a strange connector type, but I haven't encountered one, yet!

1/2-3/4 & 1 inch garden hose connectors are a good start. We also carry 2 x 20 mtre roll flat hoses

A hozelock connector will also come in useful

The strange connector is just a male connector on our hose I have a male at one end and female at other so once rolled up join together and no leaks.
Just go to a garden centre and buy the standard Gardena screw connector and you should have no troubles

If you have been to the p&r the screw connector is the same as the only one I have used over here

I have found that most aire taps can be easily reached so carry a short hose made from a washing machine hose with one end cut off. The connector will fit most aire taps and being a couple of metres long is easy to use and drain after use and they are cheap.

Techno has the definitive answer Darren (imo). I have been caught out on aires a couple if times but there have always been helpful French or Dutch neighbours. Last French helper pointed me to Mr Bricolage which is water connector heaven

The 1/2 and 3/4 inch screw connectors are certainly the most common but I have also come across non threaded taps so a jubilee clip type is needed and the French some times require your hose to have a hozelock male connector which you just push in, this makes sure you cannot leave the tap on when you disconnect the hose, crafty so and sos. I have a little plastic box with my assortment of connectors and other hose goodies built up over the years

If you have to use the male connector watch out for the other end of the hose as there is no on off tap it just comes out sometimes it seems as if your have got a jet wash in your hand
