Merry Christmas to all.

We're gonna be heading from paris to the tunnel next week and are doing this differently to how we have in the past, in that we are crossing in the evening rather than the morning.

We are looking for an overnight stop as close to the tunnel as possible, but have young children so safety is important.

I have often used cite Europe. Many times with grandkids as well, did it going out and back in August. Never had an issue. Some don't like it but works for us.

Stayed at Gravelines end of October. Nice little town, quiet and about 25 mins from tunnel. Or if you are coming over in the evening try new Dover road P&R at this side.

there is an Aire at Montreuil-sur-Mer, a few minutes walk into town centre and its about 50 mins to the shuttle.

that is our preference but perhaps its to far out for you.

Thanks for all the replies.
Is this the place you see as you drive into the tunnel entrance?
Is it basically a shop car park or is it something else?

Cite Europe is on the French side, you're talking about the Euro Tunnel shopping outlet on the UK side which you can't stay at - when you get off the train you'll go straight out onto the main road so can't get back into the shops.

There's the park and ride at Canterbury but depending on what day you're coming back you may or may not be able to get in - I don't think you can access it on a Sunday evening but I haven't been for a while so not sure!

Maybe. From the place we park you can see the Eurotunnel area on the opposite side of the fence. When you drive into the city Europe area there are a few of the blue Motorhome aire type signs to help guide you.

The P&R at Canterbury would be best, but from memory I think they don't allow entry after 8.30pm, although you can leave at any time. Best check on the Canterbury council website.

The Caravan Club site at Folkestone has "ferry pitches" that are pre bookable and you can arrive late. Give them a call 01303 892665.
