Thanks for the help with the 2nd battery probs.also would like to fit a 12v socket.
will this be the same idea as 2nd battery online fuse plus smaller cable

Yes, same idea, I suggest 2.5mm 2 core sheathed flexible cable and a 15A inline fuse close to the battery.
and double check polarity before using socket.
