Or perhaps you have a more normal diesel or petrol powered motorhome but just prefer only certain aspects of being green ?

Just asking you understand :)

...and of course supplying all the raw materials & components, manufacturing & selling all this "stuff" employs people to let them feed, clothe & house their families - or should they all be out on the street, naked & starving  ?

I asked for a bucket with a lid, not a bucket and chuck it, dual purpose, for emptying waste water and washing clothes in transit. Unilateral response, we can't get you that for christmas!!
Get ACSI every year, thanks Johnnie, Elliot and Archie.
might get the bucket from john though as my 'silly' present.

We spend hours looking for appropriate gifts for people we care about, because we care. We don't appreciate being told we don't care by someone who we have not met, who doesn't know us or the people we give gifts too or, what those gift might be, and who doesn't have the faintest clue whether the gifts we give contribute to trashing the planer or not.

Merry Christmas.

I’m very sorry if I have offended anyone in my original post as that was far from my intention and I certainly was not accusing anybody of anything just trying to raise a bit of awareness regarding the state of our environment and the pathological consumption that has become so normalised that we scarcely notice it.
Unfortunately I did not express myself as eloquently as others on here have, who I’m sure have all bought their presents with care and will give them with love.
Hope you all have a Happy Christmas :xsmile:

P.S. Santa hurry up and bring me the crash helmet and thick skin I have just ordered :imoutahere:

LOL !! No need for a sorry at all ! We are all only 'yanking your chain' :) and I am sure not a single person was offended in any way !!
It was a nice sentiment, I am just rather acidic at the moment due in part to a lack of nicotine !

Have a watch of 'Back in time for Christmas' on BBC iPlayer (It was on BBC 2 last night and the night before) Shows quite nicely how 'consumerised' Christmas has become over the decades.

It can be just a habit thing though, I had my Xmas booze up with 2 of my best friends on Monday we have been friends since we were 5 years old.
They do an Xmas pressie swap on Xmas Eve and asked me to partake this year has we will be in my homework for the first time since 2003 for the Xmas period.
But as I pointed out I wouldn't have a clue what to get them, and neither would they me. They were adamant they could, so I said well excluding alcohol what would you buy for me?
Answers inc
Smellies, posh body creams etc - nope I suffer with eczema even now, only use e45 or cocoa butter based stuff.
Bath bombs or luxury bubble bath- nope as above but also we don't have a bath in our house.
Chocolates- nope really you definitely know I don't like chocolate or nuts!
Jewellery- nope don't wear it.
So despite knowing these girls for 38 years they wouldn't know what to get me.
I however do know they both like chocolates so would have fared slightly better.

We agreed in the end resorting to swapping bottles of Prosecco 3 ways probably defeated the object :)

Why would I watch something like that ! ?
As I said in another thread, Christmas is only spoiled by commercialism for those that let it be so.. Everyone to their own, but for me and mine.. we enjoy the Christmas period..
If folk wanna be miserable, or not enjoy the time for one reason or another, that is not gonna any difference to us :)

I wasn't suggesting it was compulsory viewing :D ....I was just suggesting have a look if you want to see how much its changed since the end of WW2. It has quite a lot.

I enjoy it too, as suggested in my earlier post, as I get stuff I need (assuming Santa plays ball again this year that is)

We enjoyed this @MJG1959 - much "oh I remember that/those!". Well except the 40s too early for us.

Oddly enough it has kinda gone the other way in my family...
Certain members on my mothers side were.. well lets say extremely comfortable, and would arrive on boxing day at my nans house ( which is where we would spend boxing day ) with not just a present for all, but a van full of presents which followed them in their car..

They would also have Christmas delivered from Fortnum and Mason. Not only to their humble ( sic! ) abode but to nans house too

Not a muppet at all.
The hook is alwas there and it only takes a moment to catch you off guard.
I'm 6 years this time (my longest by a mile) after smoking 45 years and it's only the obvious improvement in my health that keeps me smoke free.
You'll get there mate :xThumb:

On and off for many years.
Last year I made Christmas cards for the family .... they were all kept and not put in the recycling. This year I made 90% of the cards we have sent / are sending.

I often make presents, jewellery or knitwear or cooking. I ask people not to go out of their way to buy me gifts, I'd prefer a letter or phone call :)

I made lots of presents last year, small hampers with home made goodies, almost felt guilty as I enjoyed myself so much! Only had time to make raspberry gin and christmas cards so far this year.
