Ease of access to Tube or at least a rail station is at the top of our priorities before location, are there any recommendations please?

We stayed at the CC site Wyatts Covert near Denham last week. It is just inside the M25 beside the M40 and outside the LEZ if that is an issue with your MH. You can get a bus from outside the camp to the station. Typical CC site, very clean, hard standing pitches, wardens friendly (honest!). Only downsides are the lane to reach it is narrow and from the north the lane has wheel swallowing potholes, so approach from the south.

There's a popular C&CC site near me in Chertsey, outside the LEZ if that's an issue, and about 40 mins to Waterloo

Crystal Palace every time for us. Number 3 bus straight into the city centre during the day, N3 all night.

We are LEZ compliant, so all the options here are open to us. Great response from everyone, many thanks.

We have used the C&CC site at Hertford several times. Lovely site with loads of space. Its a 20 walk down to Hertford East station for trains to central London.

Another vote for Abbey Wood - you do actually feel quite rural even though you're not. Easy walk to the train station and 30 mins travel to central London. We had pre bought the train ticket. Within 15 mins of booking in we were on the train:xThumb:

We came from the north and used the Woolwich Ferry instead of the Dartford crossing.

it's near the Armouries which we said we'd have a look at next time.

I thought that the m25 was a border never to be crossed and avoid London at all costs. Haha

We stayed at wyatts cove a few weeks back , the wardens were great very helpful, there was a fair bit of day time noise from the private air field across the road , but that went quiet in the evening, we found it just as cheap to get a taxi from the site into West Ruislip tube station, as it was to go to the overland station. More trains running on the tube as well

The advantage of the bus from Crystal Palace is that it's free using our bus passes. :xThumb: There are some good eating places not too far from the site as well.

Hi Busman, I'd guess it's about a twenty minute walk to the station; I've never stayed there but it looks lovely, right by the river, and Chertsey has some good pubs and restaurants (and a great kebab shop if that's your thing)

Abbey Wood: super, wooded, 10min walk to train.
Crystal Palace: Lovely, views over park, very easy bus access.

HOWEVER, coming from north, consider CC Wolves Wood? at Welwyn Garden City/Hatfield. Short walk to bus, train to King's Cross. Not so convenient but saves time and money on getting further south. If you head across the Thames, consider Woolwich Ferry: it is free and gives you the feeling of going on holiday.

Great thanks @Bacchus that will do nicely, a couple of days visiting friends/family then down to Newhaven for the ferry.

I likewise, Lived just off J4 M3, 81 to 86. commuted regularly into the centre to do hospital Boiler examinations, the BBC (White City AND the concrete doughnut), along with B-A at Heathrow, Hated the bloody place!!!. NO parking, and lugging all my kit on buses and tube at times!!. Glad to see the back of it when I was "promoted" to Somerset! That was before most of the 4 lane car park (M4) was complete too.! Won`t EVER go back there!. Even stopped using Heathrow, when I found I could get to Texas quicker Via Humberside and Schipol!!, without paying for a Hotel overnight either!!.
