Gutted.
I had an Epileptic seizure 2 days ago and can't drive for 6 months..
No history of Epilepsy, it just came out of the blue...
So thats it folks, we shan't see you all down there in Spain this years.
The van will just be stood up the top of the garden waiting....
Have a good time all of you that are going and look after "Ianthebuilder".

Yep, I'm with Jim here. A young family member had a fit and blackout while driving with her two babies in the car, luckily at a very low speed and nobody hurt buy it's still a massive worry.
Hope the docs can sort it for you.

That's sad for you.

But maybe not as sad as you think, the ticket lasts a year provided you don't pass the travel date, so go on line and make the departure date 11 months from when you bought it and then it's parked. You can bring it forward again when you are fit.

So very sorry your plans have been cancelled in such an unexpected way.

I had a 1st seizure 9 yrs ago, lost my licence for a year. Very inconvenient as I didn't have a partner to do any driving.

I think it was initially renewed for 1 yr, then 3, now as normal. I'm on a very low dose of medication.

I know it's no consolation but the 6 months will pass soon enough.

Thats a real bummer. As above comment by Brian - we had to cancel at short notice in the summer and have rescheduled for the end of January as we had booked the tickets for July in early February. Can all be done online.

If it's your first you definitely need checking up - a neurologist and CT/MRI scan.
Sad to say losing your licence may be the least of your worries.h

Sorry to hear this but, if the Drs say that it is ok, why not fly down and stay in a cabin on a site or rent a place - rents for apartments aren't that much more than some MH pitch fees.

Disappointing for you, I know the feeling only too well, as we have not been able to use the van since June due to health issues. I need a new knee before I will be able to be active enough or pain free enough for the MH lifestyle. Not too much longer to wait, op early Feb so will be on the mend from there.
Go to the MH about every 6 weeks and check all is ok, it starts 1st time each time, so hopefully will be back on the road soon.
Six months seems a long time from now but it will pass and hopefully all will be back to normal, for you and me!

Your notes of sympathy were a total surprise to us, how very kind, what a site this is.x x.
Thanks for the heads-up about moving the date Brian, I didn't know that was possible...
Yes Jenny can and has driven the van, but neither of us would be happy doing the 1200 mile trip.. It is a lot more stressful for her driving the van and the concentration levels are much higher than with her car. And I have to admit, I am not the best passenger in the world !!! We will however do a trip to Fuertaventura for a couple of weeks and get our "bits" brown.. We just have to 'roll with the punches' and make the best of what life throws at us.. On a good note, I did have a brain scan ( and there seems to be one ) and its undamaged (Some would say unused) so thats a plus point..

Why not get the ferry to Spain? It halves the number of miles you have to drive (but costs a bit more). There are Funsters (including myself) who can provide you with a code to get 10% off the fare.
GWen only drives 2 - 2.5 hrs max a day because she has an arthritic back and I can't drive because of defective eyesight.
There are plenty of places to stop on the way to Beni from Northern Spain and Funsters will help you find them.
