Any ideas and suggestions for a good quality heavy duty compressor.
Also use for Landrover etc.

I've recently bought and used the Ring RAC900 as well.
It is solidly built and performs superbly well.
You probably won't ever need to buy another one.

I've had a slime compressor for over 10 years and it's been everywhere with me on bike and car, quality is superb. You'd need a bigger one than mine though for a large vehicle.

Thanks for your replies- only problem I can see is easy access to batteries in motorhome as not a 12v socket - would it draw too much current for normal 12v socket circuit?

I was worried about this as well. However, I have used it on my Fiat ducato based motorhome and a Mazda car. Both times it was a doddle.
Connect the red crocodile clip to the + terminal and the black one to any thing metal and it works straight away.
I was told that anything this powerful will blow the fuse in a cigar lighter.

We have a socket on the trailer for 12V:

Same on the Mercedes, plus we have a socket with crocodile clips to go direct on a battery.

The extension lead lets us reach all the wheels.

The smaller compressors are more convenient and take less power, but with 12 wheels to look after we prefer a good quality unit with better pumping volume and pressure.

We have a Ring Rac900 too, it's one of the few available that will pump up to 5.5 bar. The only thing I don't like is the screw on inflator, it's impossible to take it off the valve without letting air out. You need to over inflate by a few lbs and use a good pressure gauge to check afterwards.

Can you connect it to the same terminals under the bonnet that you'd attach a battery charger or jump leads you ?

The Ring RAC 900 is a what I also have .. great bit of kit but as you suspect, it's rated at 280watts so draws nigh on 24amps ..

Got the same as this one big thumbs up. Use regularly on the m/h and the trailer tyres.
Good idea with the extension lead, need to make one up for mine.
