can't help with the route, but thought I'd let you know that there is a Tour De France stage finish in Colmar on 17th July. Didn't know whether this would impact on your journey:Smile:

Hello

We did this journey a couple of days a go. If you want you can go on some toll free motorways.

Our route was Calais, Belgium, Luxembourg (cheap fuel and cigarettes), back out at France down to Metz, from there we cross countried a bit to just after Strasbourg where the motorway is free to Colmar.

I can give you a more detailed route later if you need it.

Kind regards

Pat and Neil

Hi Pat and neil,
your trip sounded very simular to what we have in mind making an 18 day round trip stopping maybe one day or possably sometimes three days as we find suitable sites for sight seeing old towns etc taking it easy as we are now the wrong side of 1944 !!!

If you have plenty of time go down via Nancy and across the Alsace region, it is really beautiful, we were going to come back this way put it was pouring down with rain and thunderstorming, and there was no clear view.

Did it once in the RV with toad:
St Omer (Chateau Gandspette)
Chalons-en-Champagne (Municipal Camping)
Viller-les-Nancy (Camping Le Brabois)
Aire de Service on A4 - it rained so much the engine sucked water in and saturated the air filter stopping us dead - fortunately had another on board.
Riquewihr - not far from Colmar - can't remember name of campsite but on a roundabout just outside village.
