Have seen a post on here somewhere about the 125 being a horrible road. What's wrong with it and is the A22 a better option if going along that route.

Portugal, the 125 isn't the smoothest road but it gets you along the Algarve no problem.Too much hassle trying to get a box and pay for the 22.

125 is not the best road mikey but it gets you there for free just watch out for the pot holes and keep your foot over the brake ( ready to stop ) locals do some very odd things .

There is also quite afew roadworks up and down the 125 they are trying to make it better. .

In spring this year we travelled the whole length of the 125 from the Spanish border to Sagres in the West (not necessarily in that order). No real problems. As others have said a bit bumpy in places but no worse than some of the A roads we have in Kent, and wider than many.

We did it the opposite way over 7 weeks and doubled back on ourselves to Alvor,it's not very far along the Algarve and anyway what's the hurry?:)

Well, a lot of road repair going on at the moment on the EN125. But it is not just the condition of the road that I was revering to in my original post...it´s a boring road with nothing of interest to look at. But yes, it will get you through the Algarve in a couple of hours, Algarve is not that big a place

Travelled on the 125 now and yes it's just like a road in England Bumpy but gets you to where you are going.
