Hello - after a bit of advice.

We left our van in Perpignan a couple of weeks ago after an extended trip after the French Motogp, and we're going back in a couple of weeks to finish the trip by way of Andorra, the Atlantic coast and back from St Malo. Although I've spent a bit of time in France (I lived in Normandy for a while) I know absolutely nothing about the Atlantic coast. Anybody have any tips about the highlights of that route, unmissables and so on please? My only 'must do' at the moment is a trip to San Sebastian.

Thanks, in anticipation......

HI TDH
we try and go to the atlantic coast at least once a year.

Vieux Boucau is a must.

Plenty of great aires down the coast line. soustons is very nice too.

In the French holiday season though it can be very busy so be warned.

We have a soft spot for Biarritz. Sort of Victorian resort that still has it's quality intact. Glorious in the sun, perfect beaches, not so good in the wet. Plenty of "if you need to ask the price you can't afford it."

La Rochelle is nice for a wander round, you can even shop when its raining as there are covered walkways, bit like Chester, but French.

La Rochelle is my favourite place for things going on. Free parking in the large car park and walk by the stream through the park to the beach or directly into town via underpass.

Hi
we have just come back from a trip down to Pau via La Rochelle and we had a great time there.
Aire is just next to the marina.
You can catch the solar powered ferry to city, well worth a visit.

We then went further down the coast and stopped at Campsite La Forêt - Pyla sur Mer and climbed on foot the biggest sand dune ever.
Dune de Pilat (pyla) well worth a visit.

Have a great trip.

Cheers

Nick
