Living the dream.
It really does depend on what it is I need, sometimes from the manufacturer, sometimes from a dealer like out and about and sometimes on eBay. :)

All depends on what you are after. Something's I get from Amazon or E Bay (smallish items) larger things like chairs/tables often purchased at one of the outdoor shows. Occasionally at a local caravan dealer if the price is acceptable and/or needed urgently.

As others have said, various places.
Locally, we have an auto spares/camping shop that has been going for years and has good prices usually, a caravan dealer which has built up its spares side a fair bit in the last few years and Go Outdoors - which is good for looking round, deciding what you want and then going on-line for a proper price :D

After I pick up my (first) MH I'm going on a trip to visit the massive Obelink store at Winterswijk in Holland. http://www.obelink.nl
From my browsing, the prices are the same there in Euros (often less) as the UK prices in pounds at British retailers, i.e. an item that is £100 here is often €100 (or less) somewhere like Obelink or one of the big German retailers.
As I'm starting from scratch I'll be shopping for a bunch of stuff from bedding to kitchen things to some bits of outdoor furniture and general MH camping accessories. With two price lists side by side (in £ from uk retailers and € at Obelink) I'll be saving £200-300, depending if I go mad in the shop or not which is a risk of course ;-)
Worth a thought if you have an expensive or long shopping list...

the Classified section here is always worth checking in to, I`ve bought a few items now, a lot cheaper than anywhere else, and great likeminded people to deal with.

Also, if theres something you like the look and are not sure, ask here, I`m sure someone will be able to give advice if they`ve bought the same cheaper or pitfalls, bonus, whatever.

I get the same emails from Out & About.... As others have said; some of these recommendations and adverts are from overpriced places. Nothing wrong with browsing through them though because one can make a mental note of the product and source it cheaper somewhere else.

I find the best place to start looking is on this forum!!! There is the 'This week I bought' thread and other tips from Funsters who sit glued to the Aldi special offer pages :D or just post about a deal that they've seen.

When you get into 'Motorhome Mode', you'd be amazed at the stuff you see that can be used generally. For example; the Pound Shop do a bag of small plastic pegs in their camping section. Ideal for pegging down your groundsheet. I also use their kiddies lunch boxes to store bits in. I've got six of 'em - all different colours - to store things like iPhone, other chargers, TV leads and hose connectors. I just use a hair drier to take the labels off the boxes, then label them up with a label maker to identify the contents. The Pound Shop is also a good source for anti-slip matting. A few rolls are a really cheap way of not only stopping things sliding about in lockers, but also for anti-rattle!

Finally, for expensive items, some Trader-Funsters offer discounts for members.

Buying accessories and then never using them is half the fun of our pastime! :D

Spend the winter in Spain ! The China shops there must make a fortune from motorhomers buying stuff they never even thought they might need before they saw it !

Thanks everyone for your useful comments. I am starting from scratch as its my first MH, so lots to buy. So far I have found lots of plastic containers of all sizes from 'The Range', now that is an amazing store (not necessarily for MH) that has absolutely everything at reasonable prizes.

Don't forget charity shops, car boot sales and markets... I've had loads of stuff from them for my motorhome (and home) over the years. Cheap shops (Poundland etc) for more normal household stuff too - rarely buy stuff from 'specialist' shops or dealers - Go Outdoors ... was in their new store in Hull the other day ... nearly everything must have been at least 50% dearer than anywhere else selling the same stuff, the only good priced items were some fleece tops for ÂŁ5 each so I treated myself to a nice pink one!

Also have a shuftie at Sports Direct online as they tend to reduce a lot of their camping/caravanning stuff this time of year to really low prices.

Oow didn't know Sports Direct sold camping stuff, thats somewhere else for me to look. Car boots I love so now I have a reason to go to them and not just buy for the sake of buying.

Best thing to use ebay for is priceing stuff up then use it for bargaining in the store of your choice

Going to swear! Ikea

Got one of their freestanding 6 draw units on the side as our MH lacks small draws for odds and ends. Travel clock, lightweight mirrors, bathroom tidies. The market hall is treasure trove. Prices are very good as is the quality.
Modified one of their pull out larder racks to fit the silly tall narrow cupboard between the cooker and the sink unit (our local dealer was impressed with it, wanted to know where i'd got it from).

@Bernie P agree with you about Ikea but I have to go when it's quieter, later at night, otherwise it just makes me want to scream
Gets far too busy, luckily it's only about 15 mins away but always good for a wander(y)

If you are looking for accessories don't forget @Johns_Cross_Motorhomes they hold a vast amount of stock and deliver quick. They give a big Fun discount too. Also they were Fun's first ever Supporter and discount giver, which is why, now and again I like giving them a well deserved plug like this one. :) http://www.johnscross.co.uk/
