Planning a week in the lakes starting the 17th of next month with the wife and dog.
We dont mind weather it north or south as long as we are near a lake.
We are not members of cc which seems to have all the best spots.
Can anyone reccommend anything decent which doesnt cost the world

I've previously been recommended Castlerigg Farm near Keswick. Castlerigg Farm Campsite - Keswick, The Lake District

been to castlerigg myself and its like stalag luft keswick.

they state ......

We want all our visitors to enjoy their stay so it is in everyone's interest to know we are strict about this rule. After 10.30pm if voices can be heard from one unit to the next this is classed as noise and is unacceptable. If the Site Warden has to ask anyone to keep their voices down please respect the request, voiced don't have to be loud to be irritating.
No loud music at any time.

We are a family site for couples and families only, sorry, no all male or all female groups. We do not allow couples or families to group together as this has the potential for noise.

too strict for me.....walking on eggshells:Angry:

Park Coppice CC site is good. Nice walk into Coniston. Join CC, it's only the price of half a tank of fuel.

You could do a lot worse than Gillside Farm, Glenridding. We were there earlier this year. Narrow approach but the owner has a 30 footer he manages to get in. Pub 5 mins, lake and village (more pubs) 10 mins. Great walks from the site and on the lakeside.

I stayed at the national Trust site at Wasdale Head. Good sight - only a few mtorhom pitches. Nice and remote and yet a few minutes from the pub. The pub only takes cash (or casrds for a large fee) so stock up on 10p's! Good food and their own micro brewery ale. Excellent walking area. Dogs very welcome.

Thankyou all for taking the time to reply, tried many of the sites but they are either full or cost the earth. Some charge £3 for the dog. I have made a note of the sites and we plan to visit in September when the prices are a bit lower.

On a more happy note we have chosen to go to Cornwall for 5 days instead to a campsite called
Link Removed. It costs half the price of the lakes for the time of year and dogs are free, it is also close to the Eden Project. Big market held down the local town and is within biking distance to local fishing villages. 2 pubs close by that both serve food

Has anyone taken a M/H to the Eden project? Is it going to cause a problem parking it?

Any Funsters stayed at this site before?

Hi markymark

We visited the Eden Project a couple of years ago. Stayed at a site nearby and walked in from a mile or so away. We saw plenty of motorhomes parked up at the Eden Project when we visited, you should have no problems. Enjoy your trip.:thumb:

We have been there with our motorhome. No problems getting in or out. We were put in the Coach Park. As it was New Years eve there were no other coaches there.
