Why do we always leave things until the last minute! Matt's on his way over to Machine Mart in Coventry to buy a generator for the weekend. We've seen a Clarke 1000w inverter generator advertised for £264.99. We'll mainly use it for weekends, do you think it looks alright for what we want it for? HELLLLLLLLPP :shout: ::bigsmile:

Hi

It looks a decent genny and price looks good but it all depends on what want it for ?

a 1kw is big enough to charge the battery and run a few low wattage items like a TV, charging laptops or phones etc.. but not big enough for a kettle..

Good good so there's nothing drastically bad about it. TV, phones, DS's ideal. Luckily we've got a whistle kettle. Thanks Jim and Jim! ::bigsmile: ::bigsmile:

Anybody have any ideas about a Genny to power a hairdryer and straighteners (for Mrs Colpot you understand:Smile:) We are thinking of getting one just to run for short while each morning when we are away.

For a hair drier you will need a 2kw genny. As for straightners, why not get the Mrs some [ame="http://www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_ss_d_0_8?url=search-alias%3Ddrugstore&field-keywords=gas+hair+straighteners&sprefix=gas+hair"]Gas Ones[/ame] My Mrs swears by them :thumb:

We use a 1kw kippor and find it ideal, I bought a 800 watt hairdrier for Mrs S and that dries her hair fine all be it a bit slower than the one at home.

No need for genny ... or hair dryer ..

Buy one of these and give her a No 2 .. sorted :thumb:

Why not look at a Planet 1 instead? £60 more but 2 year warranty, delivery, mark 2 version of that one and fully tested.

I bought a new 3kw generator a couple of years ago and it still hasn't been used. I got as far as bringing it home and puting petrol in the tank but, strangely, didn't do anymore. It still has the manufacturer's warning sticker to remind me that there's no oil in the sump, for goodness sake.
I've been thinking about a generator for the Scout but this thing's a bit big - in every sense. :Eeek:
Anyone out there want it, or swap it for a smaller one?
