A suggested walk from our local newspaper..

It's where we live and know well.. if you enjoy walking this would make a great day out.

The start of the walk is at the car park at East Lane Bawdsey, beside WW2 defences.. plenty of space and if you stayed overnight no one would bother you .. If you prefer, there are several CLs and small sites locally

Or you could start at Shingle St.. also has plenty parking.. but signs banning overnight.. either way it's a lovely walk.. quiet and remote.. at this time of year you rarely meet anyone ..

For some reason I thought you lived in Scotland Jim .

Lucky you, what a lovely part of the country to live in! I've walked the shingle beach a few times, RAF Bawdsey was a very popular posting! Sad to look at the site of the old Manor now.
Stayed many times at the CL's in Orford and Snape, one of our favourite area's.
Heading to Walton on Friday where Mum still lives, I'll give you a wave from the cliff top! :hi:

I wonder why you thought that ..

no, moved down in 1989 to Essex and in Suffolk since 2010 ..

When we lived in Essex we came up to the Suffolk coast regularly for week ends, never thinking that one day we would be fortunate to live here ..

Great Pics Jim, there's no mistaking the Suffolk coastline, quite like no other.

I wonder how many Martello Towers now remain? We still have one in Walton, used to be a bar on a Caravan Holiday Park. There was some threat of it being in some jeopardy for another Tesco development!

Looks a good Wilding Spot that car park Jim ;)

We often go along the coastal area pictured. very quiet, even in main holiday periods. The whole Suffolk coastal area is beautiful, and with a weeks Suffolk coastal car parks ticket, it is the cheapest holiday on the planet.
From a west Suffolk lad.

Suffolk is top of my 'must visit' list. Never been there. I suppose that's because travelling E/W across the country seems so much harder than N/S.
Now the OH has finally agreed to retire, though, we might make it next summer.;)

Stayed on the Tangham campsite in Rendlesham forest a couple of times in T4 days - in fact the first time must have been when still tugging. Nice bike ride out through the forest & then down to Shingle Street.
