Tonight on site, went to hoist the TV aerial, a rare occurrence for us, and water came out from the inside the raising pole itself, I had tried the aerial in the vertical position, first time for ages, any clues anybody?.

IIRC there is a soft rubber seal on the base of the aerial .. needs removing and replacing ..

or if no seal, it needs resealing with a non setting mastic..

there is also a rubber gland seal.. it may be leaking there .. could try some silicone lubricant .. otherwise replace the seal.

does it look like this Broken Link Removed

It could have come a bit loose so you could try and turn the nut on the inside to tighten it.

many many years! since I was a kid
the gland that the pole passes through goes brittle and hard if left unused.

If you have had it vertical water could have got in through the seam around the side, if it has come on the inside of the pole.
The whole thing comes out from the top and can be reseated.

If you had the heating on it could just be condensation given that you said it came from inside the pole

So how has water got inside the pole? The roof grommet has nothing to do with that it only stops water coming in around the outside of the pole
