We now often mention drying towels and microfibre towels.
In this thread we will look at why we use them and which ones to buy. We all like different ones so please shout up if you have recommendations
Why do we use them ? The days of the chamois leather are over. With today s water based / synthetic and sometimes soft paints a chammy is far to harsh and damaging. They inflict swirling to our modern delicate paints.
Drying towels and the more usual microfibre towels are the same product its the size that differs. Manufacturers may make big claims but the materiel is so similar its not worth discussing.
My current favourite everyday towel for general purpose use is the Kirkland signature from Costco. They are ultra plush with a super soft feel which lasts ! They wash time and time again and retain the feel for ages.
Cost is around £13 inc VAT for a huge pack of 36. Two or three will dry a car easily !

Current favoured drying towel is the common blue with red piping sold under many brand brand names but they are all the same.

Tips on towels......
Always remove the labels/tags. They can scratch.
Wash before use. It fluffs them up and removes fluffy bits .
Never use fabric softener when washing. It clogs the fibres and makes then go hard .
Dry them on the line. Tumble drying shortens useful life and hardens fibres
To test softness when they have been used a while rub them on a blank CD. If they scratch bin them or use them but not on paint. If no scratches on the CD they are fine.
