I have always run toll roads from Calais to Rouen, Le Mans, Bordeaux, San Sebastián, Zaragoza, Valencia,Benidorm.
Cost approx 200 euro.
I do Calais to Benidorm in around 27 hours having a couple of sleep stops.

I would go Calais to Bordeaux. Stay at twin lakes one night. It's only a few miles from the motorway

Then onto Burgos municipal site. Again fairly near motorway

Then straight down south. Traffic is light in Spain and to cross the country in a day is do able.
Tolls on this road should only be around a few euros

Tolls probably only make a few hours difference in a camper. Save the money, stoping for cheap supertmarket fuel and all the facilities near at hand using the fast N road system
Can get there in 2 overnights just using a few toll sections on slow bits. Look for Tonka route in resources section...

Hope you have booked site, reports are its very busy this year

@tonka's routes are excellent, we printed them off, laminated them for ease and now they're ready for next time. Very easy to follow and hop on the toll bits just when it's needed.

Both these are handy guides to have as well :).

I just program route into Garmin sat nav...makes life so much easier.

I would, but my 'Nav' still insists on having maps and lists of routes on the dash and her lap all normally falling about...but I have to be honest, she has very often stopped Katie from taking us on a wild goose chase!

Is that £200 one way? If so I think judgmentals A road plan sounds good to me. £200 towards deisel gets you a long way down

We have a 150 hp scout , in my opinion you don't need any thing bigger, 27 to the gallon at 60 mph , I'm happy with that

dont forget to check the prices on the tolls, we fell short of this and got charged for a lorry instead of a camper at nearly 100 euros for one stop.

Once bitten and all that :)

Most Motorhomes are Class 2.
You can get from Calais to Benidorm using the N10 route which is almost all motorway/ dual carriageway. including most of the A63 from Bordeaux and a couple of small toll fares to get through Rouen ( A28 & A13) and through Tours (Jct 19-24) for €16.0 all in. (Class 2). This includes toll free motorways/dual carriageways in Span

On looking at the french toll info it appears ours was correclty categorised as we are over 3metres in height and over 3.5t in weight, we were also towing a scooter on a hydratrail (another axle so to speak). I didnt query it at the time as couldnt be bothered but it would of been correct it appears.

I do believe the A63 is now chargeable

i have a Sanef bill in front of me for class 2 from Alicorne to Biriatou in September; so not all the way from Calais, to Spanish border ( some of Calais to Rouen is free anyway ) but the point is the total is Euros 85.40 thats £64 no where near £200. so including the Calais stretch is likely to be around £85 one way.
