Today is the day and we are finally over to France for our first taste of overseas motorhoming! 10 months of exploring, we are so excited and feel the 2 months seeinga bit of the uk has stood us in good stead.

Hope to see some funsters over there. I am sure I'll be back on here whenever we find wireless for more tips, it would be very nervewracking without all the valueble stuff here!

Take care.

Hi everybody,

After 6 nights using Aires we have stopped off at a campsite for a couple of nights to give the driver a rest  This means wireless for the first time apart from 10 minutes at Macdonalds!

We are having a great time, the weather has been amazing with any rain being overnight with the exception of today, we are just outside Paris and it is pouring but as we planned a catchup day on the web, washing etc. it is not a big deal. To be honest it's a relief as the last two days were oppressively hot and culmanated in a very impressive storm last night.

Out first experiences of Aires have been very good, would thoroughly recommend them to anyone although they are very busy and we have had to go to second and third choices a couple of times. We have been to St Crotoy, Sallenelles, Cerisy de Foret and Brezolles so far and all were lovely in their own way and very different from each other. In Normandy we visited a few WWII sites including the American Cemetary which was very humbling. We have also seen some beautiful scenery, gorgoeus towns and villages and cannot wait to see more. Tomorrow we're off to Disney for a couple of days (being Florida addicts we couldn't resist, although we know it will not be the same!) and then we are heading to Belgium for a while.

If anyone is interested I have added our blog address below but as stated below it's my first, so apologies if it bores you:ROFLMAO: I will try and update it fairly regularly in case it doesn't.

That's it for now, take care.

Glad to see you are enjoying yourselves and like the Aires. We use the Aires a lot in France. Will be over there ourselves next week.

Ieper/Ypres is good in Belgium and a handy municipal campsite not far from Menin Gate and walkable to the town/city. Also a Lidl nearby.

Greetings from Luxembourg

Since my last post we have spent a couple of days at Disney. We decided to get an Annual Pass as it was not much more expensive and means we'll be able to pop there a few times over the next 9 months for nothing (we bought the middle one that includes parking but means there are 30 days a year you cannot use it, although you get 50% off normal prices if you choose to go then). It was great for a disney fix and staying in the car park with about 20 other vans was fine.

We then visited the Mareuil Sur Ay Aire which was a gorgeious spot on a working canal shaded by trees, very busy but we arrived just as someone left. Free you except 5Euro for 3 hours electric and water. Next was the Stenay Aire another great Aire with water on 3 sides for 6euros a night including electric.

Right now we are at a riverside campsite (ACSI) in Vianden, Luxembourg which is a pretty little town with a fairytale castle on the hill and loads of restaurants and hotels (imagine it would not be so idyllic in the height of summer!). We are going to stay here until Monday as we can get freesat and Dave will NOT miss a Grand Prix

Anyway enough from me apart from saying we are loving the full timing way of life (albeit temporary full timing), the van is holding up well and we could definitely get used to this!

Next stop Germany - if anyone have any recommendations for good Stellplatz we would love to hear them.

All the best.

Hi

The Stenay aire is great, we spent about 5 days there in 2005, then we went into Germany via the Mosel..
There are tons of stelplatz along the river, you will be spoilt for choice.. We stopped on the one at Enkrich, a huge grassy site on the river, close to the shops etc.. highly recommended..
Next one was Alf , it's beside an outdoor municipal pool, lovely location and recommended.., the Mosel must be one of Germay's best locations for motorhomes..

If you enjoy visiting towns, there is a stelplatz in Trier, close to shops and the river.

These and others can be found on the Google map, link in signature

Safe travels

Jim

Thanks, the viaduct definitely on our list for the summer when we head in that direction. Looking forward to trying out the Stellplatz now we've mastered aires (sort of!).

Pouring with rain here in Luxembourg today as it is at home I gather by the looks of the Epsom Derby on TV! A good day to update the blog, watch GP etc.
