Hi All. We are converted Caravanners (40 years) fancied a bit of touring !
Bought a Bessacarr 496 last December, and 2 weeks later popped through Tunnel, and spent Jan/Feb in Spain. Loved it. Just week-ended through the spring, but in June, went away for a few days ! Just got home Oct 12th ! House seems to be a bit obsolete now. What a fantastic system of Aires through Europe, and we spent so many years on Campsites. Off to Spain again on Boxing Day. Maybe see some of you on the road, looks a friendly club. Cheers.

Sounds like you had a good time! So now when you see a letter in the pages of the CC magazine, or elsewhere, from some caravanner asking what is the point of motorhomes - you will know how to reply!

Hi All. Thanks for the warm welcome.
Hello Rob & Val, loved the trip down to Spain, a totally new learning curve for us, bit of an adventure.
Well, since you ask .
Went through the Tunnel at 07.00 after staying the night on Canterbury Park &Ride (£3). Don't fancy Tolls as we are 4250Kgs (class3) so went all Toll free , with 1 exception.
So Calais, Abbeville,Rouen,Orleans. Just after is an Aire at Lamotte Beuvron, by canal basin, v nice.
Then down via Clairmont to the Millau Viaduct (only Toll)
Stayed the night in the Services right by the Viaduct, on our own, freezing cold night. Woke to an amazing cotton wool valley under the viaduct, stunning view.
Road down from Millau is a lovely long downhill to the Med, nice drive. Turn right for Perpignan.
Barcelona, Tarragona, stopped the night at L'Ametla de Mar.
Just stopped in a lay-bys next to beach, as didn't fancy the campsite there. Then round Valencia to Benidorm. Camping Almafra.
Nice site, but bit far out of town to walk, and no dogs on Buses !!
Back, via Valencia to Zaragoza, 20k before is a Truckstop at Carenina, just off the A23. Bit noisy, but OK for a kip.
Pamplona, Bordeaux. Nice Aire at Roullet St Estephe.
Tours, Rouen. Just below Rouen is a pretty, isolated country Aire at St GermaineDe Pasquire. Just us, the Owls, and a Midnight Badger.
Interesting face off with our Staffie
Last stop on Calais Beach, great chips ! Early morning Tunnel back to Blighty. Loved every min of it. Sorry rambled on, just enjoyed re-living it. Cheers. Graham.
