We left Totana in June to escape the hot temperatures. As keen outdoor activity'ists (made up word I think) we can't stay in temperatures of 40 degrees or more. We had a fantastic summer in France (visiting the Munchies on the way) Britain, including Scotland and back to France for some orienteering events ( which also took us over into Italy, before coming back into Spain. I already posted about our time in Asturias but we are now back in Totana. Should have been Portugal but that's a different story.

We have had to use our bikes since we have been back here rather than running or walking ( the different story) and today we had a very easy ride along the trasvase (canal) in the direction of Lorca (Gus Lopez terrain!).

A couple of piccies for your enjoyment!!!!

Looking at the last picture I think you should take the lens caps off your binoculars !

But that looks a great area. We have blue skies here in Devon at the moment - but a shade cooler than where you are I fear.

Likewise, see you in January at Totana.

Ros and Norman
Hey there. Look forward to seeing you also. Have some other friends visiting in January (met them last year here and visited them in the summer and they cost us mucho dinero as we bought our new bikes after seeing theirs). So if you are here at the same time we can have some good walks and food!

But take care of your credit cards.

We will be there back end of December, sounds like there will be a few more this year over for xmas. We have been lucky with the weather the past 2 years, hopefully it will continue (fingers crossed). Will be better than being in the UK regardless :)

We originally intended to be in Nepal over Christmas but owing to many different circumstances we decided to cancel and we will now be in Totana (no comparison!!!!). We are now going to Peru in May instead. So see you here in December.

We still have some spare clothes pegs!!!

Pfft winding me up AGAIN!!!

Few more piccies for you from today's walk. Just to keep the memory fresh!

Walk up to the fire tower. In the first you can just make out the building on the top of the hill right of centre.

No, not at all, its something that gets done in the wintertime when we arrive back in Totana, as we have returned a little early this year its been updated.
Thanks for reading and showing an interest in Judiths Blog and our area in general.
As you are interested in Mountain Biking, perhaps you should ask Martin to show you some of the routes near the camperstop. We have various rides from 1 hour up to a full morning out, or join one of our walking groups, most of our walks are passable by bikes also.

We had a go at following one of the route maps left in the reading area and after initially getting lost found it and enjoyed a couple of hours up in the hills. Will return sometime and have a look for some more trails.

This photo is on a Gem of a bike ride from the Camperstop, the views look on to La Santa, a regular ride/walk we and many visitors enjoy.

Hi both, hope the remaining orienteering events went well (after Brive). The Merc garage came good in the end and following Lac du Causse we went to Puy de Dome and headed back to the Chunnel. Now the MH home is fixed tell Mart the price has gone up to ten bob!
We're heading down there 1st Dec and I hope to get to Totana a few days before you depart for Nepal so that Martin can give me a quick bike tour.
I took your advice and coughed up to join the forum - when I finally got my a**e into gear.

Hi. Good to hear from you eventually. Glad the motorhome is sorted and is now sold to us for 10 bob! Nearly a bargain!

Not going to Nepal now due to flight problems so will be here for some of your stay. Send us a pm or email and we can have more talks.

Glad you eventually forked out your subscription. If you'd done it when we said you could have saved a fiver .

Hope Paula has more confidence now in using the Motorhome for another trip and look forward to seeing you all in December. Will have some rides sorted for you.

Today went for a short run/walk to test Martin's calf strain. We left the car a short distance from home at a forest house. We were intending to walk along a little-known route to join a well-known route and return to the car.

As we walked along the first part of the route we were joined by a small dog. The last time we walked here this same dog joined us and we were worried that it would get lost or that we would have to take it home with us, but once we arrived back near its home it disappeared, so today we were happy to have an escort!

IMG_20151023_112550503.jpg

We continued climbing up a route that has been opened up by mountain bikers. Now we ride mountain bikes but no way would we tackle this route, but they have given walkers some new routes to follow.

IMG_20151023_112858704.jpg

There is a path up there - honest!

The path climbs up and then joins an old man-made water course.

IMG_20151023_113856279.jpg

It then arrives at the highest part of the route via this view.

IMG_20151023_114908636.jpg

You can see our descent path on this photo. We continued downhill still accompanied by our new friend.

IMG_20151023_122034286.jpg

Passing this ruined farm on the way, and this view.

Looking towards the coast through the mist.

We then arrived back near to where our escort joined us and without any thanks she left.

Spot the dog. She's in there somewhere!

In contrast to our mountain walks, today we took our Norwegian friends, Jan and Eli, for a coastal walk. We parked in a wide valley off the Cartagena road.

The walk starts as a wide track which climbs up and then descends to the coast at an old Guardia Civil building. The next stage is a rocky coastal footpath that descends into small bays, sometimes on man-made steps, and then c!imbs back out, and the final part follows a dry river bed back up to rejoin the original track.

After the walk we had lunch at the WOK Buffet in Puerto de Mazarron.

The next photo is of Jan's dessert!!!
