Ok were of to Belgium in 12 days ben prepping the van.
We haven't ben for a few years but we know a few free places to stop but was wondering is there any airs or equivalent in Belgium.
We intend to be over there for eight days as that's the wee man's mid term holiday.
Hoping to get up to Antwerp then on to the Ardennes region finally finishing off at iper
if we can fit in some of the ww1 stuff it will be a bonus.
And what is the current price of diesel over there at the moment

Have you been to eperleques? We went to see this place many years ago, our lads loved it and it looks even better now with added things to see. We might give it another look.

There's a campsite close by, château gandspette. Near enough to Calais ferry. Whatever, enjoy your trip(y)

If you do be interesting to hear what you think. Enjoy anyway. It's nice when the kids are interested in stuff that matters

Hi Bill
If you go to Antwerp a good motorhome parking is
http://www.camperparkvogelzang.be/
There is no discount anymore for camping cards.
I think you know the one in Brugge
But this time of year the campsite in Brugge might be as cheap not

Hi Bill, as you come into Ieper from Dunkirk there is a Lidl with a public car park in front of it. We have spent a few nights there without a problem, on the left at the main roundabout with the old town in front of you, met a Belgian in there who said he has parked there many times without a problem so did the same without trouble a few times.

There is a car park in the road on the left just before the Menin Gate, asked a copper and he said it was fine, quite a few other vans there when we pulled up. Jeuegstadion is just behind the parking spot and they will let you get water if you ask nicely.

Hymie.

I can recommend the
Caves of Han Rue Joseph Lamotte 2, 5580 Han-sur-Lesse.
Mahy Motor museum 7900 Leuze-en-Hainaut .
Spitfire museum at a Nato air base Rue de Rohan Chabot, Base J. Offenberg, 5620 Florennes,
Maginot line fort - not actually in Belgium but just a bit south - 61 bis Grande Rue | Veckring, 57920 Thionville, France.

Enjoy

If you get the chance ,there's a painting by an Australian artist in the iper museum, I'm not an art lover ,but that painting of the menin gate is both haunting and moving ,if you view it ,give it a good long look ,I'm sure the hairs on your neck will stand up

Ypres Cloth Hall WW1 Museum kept us occupied for three hours - very moving.

The Tyne Cot Commonwealth War Cemetery is the largest of its kind in the world. Nearby is the Passchendaele Experience centre at Zonnebeeke, with underground dugouts.

I also hugely enjoyed visiting the Atomium in Brussels, a bit like being inside Tracy Island - plenty of metered parking nearby.

I don't know if flea markets are your thing but there's a cracking one every Sunday morning in the Carrefour car park at Waterloo.

There is a free aire in town

On coast around de panne up to Ostend there lots of old gun emplacments some have been preserved as historic sites and are open to public
