Hi All,

New to forum - currently have 2 x 100 Baird panels to fit to MH, cannot find an MPPT charge controller with dual output at a sensible price - am I missing something?

Has anyone fitted a switch to manually select between starter and leisure batteries? If so any suggestions on switch to use?

Fit a battery master....no chance of forgetting to switch back to hab battery.
It senses your engine and leisure battery voltages and diverts solar or mains charger current to your engine battery when it needs it at a safe 1.1amp.

This will share the charge but prioritise the leisure battery

Yes I use them often but although not a fan of Sterling I fitted this as it is quite robust.

Assuming your motorhome is the Hymer in your avatar you would do well to use the Schaudt LRM 1218 MPPT reg which will work in conjunction with your Elektroblok and from there will charge both leisure and engine batteries.

Andy, did you take it apart to see what is inside before fitting? I would not be able to resist taking a driver those screws :)

It hasn't registered significantly in my memory so I have to assume it was a case of "nothing to see here"

Is it essential I use a schaudt regulator for my Electroblok? I see it charges both leisure and starter ..

Getting there!
Fitted the LRM1218 MPPT controller and LT 320 panel to a Hymer. Doddle to fit and plugs straight into the Electro Bloc. Still got an unused LR1218 PWM if it's any use.

Hi Chipster

Another funster @Ambilkate might want to purchase the LM1218 off you as he's putting a panel on his Hymer - see below thread:

Does it meed to be an MPPT charger?
I have an unused controller that I bought a couple of weeks ago but found it was my solar panel that was the problem and the new panel came with its dedicated one.
The make is a " moove" dual battery controller.
It cast me 59€ that's about £45
If you're interested you can have it for £25 including postage

Hi Andy, @Techno100

Mind me asking why you have two split chargers installed - the sterling one and the cheaper one you linked?

Would you also explain the function of the fridge switch box and the diverter/selector on the left of the pic.

Cheers
Ross

The cheap one (CBE CSB2) sends 13.6 volts to my distribution unit to make it think the engine is running (D+) signal. That allows my fridge to switch to 12 volts.
The sterling sends up to 3 amps from battery bank 2 to battery bank 1 when there is enough solar.
The selector switch allows me to choose which battery bank feeds the habitation or can combine them
