So I have read most of the previous threads on SOG systems.

We are just changing MH after only 5 months (with MH's it is more Layout, layout, layout than Location, location, location!). The one we are getting already has a SOG system so this is not a should we shouldn't we question.

What I am wondering is why you wouldn't still put blue stuff or bio liquid in? I understand the venting for smells but what about the break down of "lumps"?

We had a SOG in our first MoHo and will be fitting one in our new van.
I always used either blue or bio liquid mainly, as you say, to break down "solids" but also to make it smell a bit nicer outside should you be parked a bit close to another van.

I think the SOG just gives you the option not to use chemicals, in some areas you are not allowed to use them

Highlands of Scotland and Islands mainly in our experience (y)

The new SOG on your new van may have its flue fitted through the roof, as ours does. This means there is no filter to change, and the fumes are vented away from other vans.
We don't use any chemicals in our SOG, nor did we in our previous one as the charcoal filter takes away any smell.
Its not only better for the environment not to use chemicals, but its cheaper too.

since 2006 ( I think ! )
We have had sogs on both our last two vans ( one fitted by the man himself and the second by me )
But I still use a dash of blu .. It just eases the aromas for me when emptying .. no other reason

Been using bio washing liquid for a couple of years but just decided to give it a go without and to be honest I might just not bother going back to additives.
