I am now in France with no return ferry booked.
Is it the same price if I just turned up at the port and paid, or is it cheaper to pre book on line a few days before I sail?

Turn up at the tunnel and they'll sting you, train fares are always lower when booked, so I assume that the ferries are similar...

Generally cheaper if you book through C&CC or C&C clubs - they get a discount

It is hugely expensive if you turn up. Fare in advance is much cheaper. Do as @jollyrodger says, hop on T'Internet a couple of days before, and you'll save £100's

Your eyes won't water, they will bleed.

I've been heard to think out loud "no I don't want to buy the ferry, just use it for an hour".

I've walked form carrier to carrier and got screwed by all of them, but parked up overnight at the port and the price dropped a lot.

We booked in advance going out using a discount code kindly supplied by a forum member.
Booked through CC&C coming back the day before we boarded the ferry and the price was exactly the same.

We SHOULD have joined Club Voyage. We would have saved the registration and years membership cost on just that one trip...
