Camping Butterfly - Pechira del Garda.

Brilliant, spotless, right at the bottom of the lake. Convenient for beeches and the ferries by foot.

Hi

Camping Butterfly is located at Peschiera del Garda and as such, you will find high speed trains to Venice, Verona, Milan and so on within a ten minute walk. Local buses serve Mantova and Verona, plus local towns around the lake. Boats operate from Peschiera to other lakeside towns too.

Advisable to book.

Take a look at Garda Vacanze - Lake Garda Internet Travel Guide

There are two train stations at Lake Garda, one at Peschiera and the other at Desenzano. The station at Desenzano is not really within easy walking distance of any campsites.

If Butterfly is full, try the adjacent Camping del Garda, again in Pescheira del Garda.

Ciao bello

We have unfinished business on Garda - reputedly the prettiest town on the lake, and there are lots of them so it's some claim, is Malchesini, there seems to be a campsite right by the lake, we need to visit this.

What amazes us about Italian lakes is the LIFE on them. Take Windermere, a handfull of posh houses and a couple of small towns on the lake. Now take Garda, loads of towns, all gorgeous full of ordinary lucky people living there.

Similar story for Maggiore and Como.

Hi Russell, not noticed you in here before. Are you still possessed by The Dark Side. We can help you. There is decontamination camp in Stratford quite soon now. Jim stands on the river Avon and cleanses folk.

People, to this guy I owe a debt, his advice on Italy got us into Camping Butterfly. Not only is the place top quality it's ACSI so we had a few days in a top site for €14 a day, brilliant.

A really good day out is to take the paddle steamer from Peschiera del Garda to the top of the lake for €23, it's 09:00 to 19:00 stopping at all the towns and gives you a couple of hours at the top before returning by the same route but with much different lighting.

An unexpected bargain too, they asked if we had the ACSI card !

It was Miss Cool Shades on her camel I thought worthy of the family album.

Brian - yes WE have unfinished business at Garda - a pint or two for a start!

Malcesine is a lovely town from where you can take the funicular to the top of Monte Baldo. There are also a selection of boat services available, plus a nearby nudist beach.

It's a deal. But have to be 2010 now, we've done The Big Spend this year. If diesel keeps going up you'll have to settle for a half. The way things are going you'll be delighted with a half of diesel.
