the best way to alert a particular member is to type @ before their name @aldhp21 then they get an email

if youve sent a message, or started a conversation as it is with the new forum software, then the recipient should see the message indicator. using the @ shortcut sends an email as well alerting the member to a thread or pm

I think you also get an email when you get a PM
