Hi all, we've been on a search again today and found a autocruise gleneagle 2008 model but the mileage is nearly 57000 miles, most vans around that age appear to be around the 20000 miles .
Would like some advice please

Since 2007. But no more.
A dealer will tell you that mileage means nothing to these vans, when you're buying!

They will also tell you it means everything to a Motorhome when you are selling or trading in.

High mileage means a higher discount or you walk away.

Ours is a 2007 with 62000 on the clock. Depends how it's been used. Ours goes South every year so is used during the winter as well. Still runs like a dream.
Peurgrot Boxer, 3 ltr never breaks into a sweat and, dare I say it, only the battery let us down after 7 years use.
Vans 7 years old with only 20000 have only just been run in. (y)
I'm sure you will pay top dollar for that one, pick one with more mileage that hasn't been standing around every winter!

3 litre Iveco then same as mine. Think in terms of 300k before breaking sweat and it is cam chain so no worry about the cam belt. Check the condition and age of the tyres and service history.
See if it has had a new auxiliary drive belt?
I think I'd be looking at when the brake pads were done too

Whether Fiat Peugeot or Citroen it is an Iveco engine

Yes but Condition is more important to me.
A high mileage mint or a low mileage dustbin? weigh it up

I did think that , asked what they could do on price and she said about £500 , two dealers told us today they are having trouble getting second hand stock and prices are rising due to this ?

I have and ones 2008 and 2009 have been advertised earlier this year for thousands less. We really wanted to see if we could get a private sale but everything we seem to like are with dealers !

Have you seen this one?
Broken Link Removed

IMHO I would not consider a van this size without a fixed bed.

Making that up EVERY day and both having to go to bed and get up at the same time is no holiday

You loose too much space with a fixed bed, we don't mind making it up be just love that it's light and airy

We can seat 5 in the lounge and there is only two of us. Separate toilet and shower island bed and a half garage.
Bed is of course made up so no need to store the bedding every day and we can stay up or go to sleep independently.
Spend most of our holiday outdoors so empty bench seats are to us a waste.
As long as you don't regret it after a year of it as buying and selling through choosing the wrong layout is very costly as many will testify.
Good luck with your hunt (y)

many many years! since I was a kid
it really has been an exceptional year for second hand motorhome sales. I spoke to a dealer friend a while back and they are even scanning ebay etc for stock. certain layouts, he has a list of possible buyers for.

an excellent time to sell but not so good if looking to buy

The commercial vans they are based on are intended to achieve interstellar mileages, if you've got a FSH, then no problem. Our 3 litre, 10 year old Renault has 88k on it, never been a concern.

Yes we had just over two years worth circa 150 nights and got proper fed up with it. Autocruise Starspirit.
Our current van will see us into our 70's unless we win the lottery of course (y)
Had our Rapido 7090F 3 yrs this November so another 12 years is a doddle. 47k on it now only
