Hi all this year we will be making the trip to Portugal by ferry to Santander.
Normally we travel by euro tunnel. But sadley two weeks ago I lost my best frend oscar a old English bull terrier he was 17 years 3 months and has been to Portugal twice with us.
So no dog this time thats why the above route, my question it what do others do with there fridge as we like to freeze local sausages and take them with us.
Also what's the ferry like for getting on any risk of grounding the back end?
Mine is a Apache 700 Auto trail.
Was thinking of having air suspension fitted or is that just going over the top.
Laurie.

We have an Autotrail Apache 632, no problems getting on or off the ferry.

We plug in on the ferry.

Just tell the guys who load you on that you want to plug in.

Don't forget your continental plug adaptor though and you might need quite a long lead

5 years, feel free to ask me about the Carado!!
Do they strap mh's down on this ferry ? I had that happen on a DFDS ferry to amsterdam and it damaged the aluminium sides.

As already said, you can get ehu on ferry-but we have never bothered,we make sure our fridge is full especially freezer compartment tightly packed and don't open door after arriving at docks.Run it on gas until last minute.
We've not had a problem yet (y)

As mentioned, just fill the 'fridge and it will be fine. But why are you importing sausages to the land of the chorizo? The only things you need to take to Europe are tea bags and in our case museli as the local stuff in supermarkets is far too sweet for us.

Love all the meats so fresh not injected with water.

We found the chorizo in Portugal very mild, just like a normal sausage but red. The best chorizo we have found are in northern Spain. But we do like Cumberland sausages and those do need to be imported!

i find uk style bacon is cheaper in uk so take loads .
bit like the cheese if you buy it in tight cryovac pacs it keeps for months even if not in a fridge . a cool place is all you need . i have usually still got bacon and finish it off in the line up at santander on the way home . 6 months later.
but nice davistow cheese is worth taking .

Thats odd about the meusli as we find the Spanish cereals far less sweet than the British equivalents , particularly like the Lidl luxury meusli . Kellogs definately add less sugar and salt but it takes a little getting used to
