OK just cycling out of Prague today but we always comment on bridge heights even when not in the motorhome, we came to one that was marked as 3.3 metres which would be a bit too tight in the Motorhome and the boss would be having hysterics if I suggested we give it a go.

BUT the reason for the low clearance was the overhead power lines for the tram dropped down to go under the bridge.

SO the big question is what would happen if you were to touch the power rail with your sat dish or van roof, yes it was raining so tyres and road would be wet and I know water is a poor conductor BUT.

You wouldn't be electrocuted provided you stayed in the vehicle, which might be a problem if you got stuck under there! The danger, if you got out, would be holding on to the MH while standing on the ground.

Hi DBK, take your point about getting out. Better watch out anybody with MH over 3.3 metres tall.

GRP/plastic body....rubber tyres......wet or not probably nothing.
At worst the dish would have a nicely welded groove in it and your receiver would be cabbaged.

Do you get electrocuted every time you step off a tram !!!!

Driving tipper artics for many years whilst in the process of transferring 20 thousand tonnes of Eurea from a ship to land store at Immingham docks my friend came out of the store in which we tipped, lifted the tipper body and touched HV cables. There was an almighty bang, air bags on the trailer burst, electrics on the trailer for weighing and electrics in the cab, twas a Volvo LH, nearly new, CAPPUT!! . driver OK as previously stated Faradays cage principle states that the charge will find the easiest route to earth and follow the outside, even jumping rubber (air suspension bags) and making them go with a rather pleasing "BANG" . Years gone by with trolley busses it was a well known "prank" of the bus driver to apply just a tad on power at a stop during snow whereby the passengers with one hand on the step rail and one foot on the wet snow would experience a slight shock

Alloy body including roof but yes the tyres are rubber, I would have thought that on a tram the power pick up would be insulated/isolated from the body, and the tram will be earthed to the rails.
