hi
Has anyone got a sound bar in their motorhome?
Just wondering if it can be powered on 12v or if it can take its power from the TV?

I've got one in the house and it requires a 230v feed.

Just trying to improve the poor TV tinny sound.

Since 2012 but longer in my dreams
A small inverter and you can use a tv and sound bar from the house.
We do .

I use a pair of USB powered speakers from Maplins, superior sound quality for only £15. TV speakers are tiny and tinny, and are often at the back of the TV.

No sound bar but when I want better sound , I either plug TV into Motorhome stereo or use a HDMX Jam speaker. Even the Jam give a better sound.

Bose Sound Dock! It's great. 220 VAC but then both TV's are big domestic jobs and the run by a Sky+ HD box so the inverter has to be on anyway so another few watts is neither here or there.

Also great for music in the van.

Bose stuff is a rip off. Get yourself a cheap pair of Bluetooth speakers off Ebay for about £20. Most people wouldn't even notice the difference.

We use something similar to the Bolse but it's made by Taotronics. Blue tooth or cable with on board rechargeables and a micro usb port, was about £25. Originally bought for the tablet.

I'm sorry but I have to disagree with you there,

There's No possible way on this planet can you compare Bose quality with £20 Ebay "quality"!!!

yes it's more expensive but for a bloody good reason!

Not long enough, but a little common sense helps..........
At the end of the day you one quality you buy one, you buy cheap, you pay twice or three or four......... times............
Whatever suits you sir.

As an audio professional I would go with Bose every time for my home. However, the size, construction material, and layout of my motorhome mean that an expensive quality system would be overkill.

Also, the quality of the broadcast audio doesn't justify (imho) the bother of setting up a decent system.

Now, if I bring a projector to the meet to watch the rugby be assured that I'll bring a decent audio set-up too.

Thanks everyone - this gas given me some good ideas to work on (y)

my criteria for buying stuff to use in the van is this:

if it gets nicked will i shed a tear or worry.

surprisingly it works out OK, stuff performs so good I use it in the house as well, my Dell i5 inch computer (HotUKDeals) with excellent battery life £150. Samsung 22 full HD with HD freeview TV £99. Garmin satnag £99 and so on....... all can be replaced for a pittance and will not ruin a holiday if broken into:)

Did someone mention being gassed?:giggle:
