This morning I finally decided to weigh my van(after a year), having no excuse as we have a our own weigh bridge only 50 metres from my garage, and joy of joys it was 3240kg with full tank of diesel, half a tank of water, full gas tank and my recently fitted Dunlop air suspension with its compressor and gauges and all our crap in the lockers. It's plated at 3850kg so giving me 610kg which will more than cover my scooter and rack, no more feeling nervous when I see a VOSA checkpoint!

What are the axle weights? GVW is only part of the story...

It's the effect it has on the rear axle loads 160kg at the back will increase the rear axle by approx 220kg depending what overhang you have, my scooter and rack is 170kg but puts 220 kg on rear axle weight and decreases the front as well there is a fomula to calculate it. I had to uprate from 2000 kg to 2300 kg on rear axle

I think you should be fine, but you could work it out if you want. Multiply the weight of the scooter and rack by the distance from the scooter to the centre of the front wheel then divide by the wheelbase. The result will be the increase, within a few kgs of the extra load on the rear axle.

It's a lever thing, best imagined by considering everything pivoting on the front axle.

Is that loading on the axle or the weight of the parts. If weight of the parts you could be 300kg on the axle.
