Hi
Does anyone have a recommendation for an alternative to Black Horse Farm for a one night stopover before the tunnel in September please? Don't want to wild camp, and won't get there until about 6pm, leaving about 10am. Nice CL or Cs perhaps? Thanks

New Dover Road park and ride at Canterbury. £3 to park overnight, water and waste available, free use of the bus into Canterbury if you want it, pub just outside if you want to eat. No entry after 8.30PM. It's about 20 minutes from the tunnel terminal.

We stopped at The Drum Inn last year but won't be using it again, expensive, the drinks were as well then they said that Scottish money wasn't legal tender.(n) This year we got the train at night and stopped at Cite Europe.(y)

then they said that Scottish money wasn't legal tender.

The further South you go the fewer places, especially pubs and small businesses, will accept it. If I venture North I always make sure I get rid of any strange notes before I get South of Newcastle (y)

they said that Scottish money wasn't legal tender.

which is correct.. it's not legal outside Scotland.. in fact, Scottish Bank notes are not Legal Tender, not even in Scotland.
English businesses are under no obligation to accept them, although many do.

Sounds perfect but the 8.30pm no entry scuppers us in 2 weeks time....We wont get down till around 11pm....any suggestions for alternatives near the tunnel?

Go straight to the tunnel and hope for the best. If none of the alternatives they offer you are attractive go back to J11 and have a kip at the services.

Far easier to find somewhere when you cross. Plus fares cheaper going out in evening then morning (well it is with frequent traveler)

Drum inn is ideal but is expensive as previously said. £16 a night before u buy a drink. We go across late afternoon now as it's much easier to stop in France.

Scottish £'s come out of the cash machines in Scotland...but they are not legal tender? confused.com
