Just tried to clean the bbq plate on my old trusty cadac, the teflon coating had several burn on stains ,
Good old Armytwowheels recommend a product (can't remember the name of it)
so tried using an oven cleaning product

OH DEAR !!!! on putting the stuff on the plate as instructions said (don't usually read instructions) left it several hours as stated, only to find the product must have been too strong as if lifted the teflon coating, OH BUG**R
now ordered new plate hopefully get it before we go on hols this weekend.

Ouch. I clean mine regularly so not to get build up but when i do i either soak tray in washing up liquid solution or soda crystals as it doesnt damage the teflon coating.

We use a traditional kettle BBQ burning charcoal.
Before laying the fire I line the base of the kettle with kitchen foil. When I'm finished the foil is lifted out, along with the ash. The base of the kettle never needs cleaning and looks as good as new.
As for the cooking surface we find that Oven Pride does a splendid job.

On a proper charcoal bbq grill, just rub along the bars with some scrunched up kitchen foil (y)
