Yes I got them all but only because I had seen the answer to 6 somewhere otherwise I would have gone for 30 because if it's all ice you could go on for ever, don't think there should be a set answer to that

Q6 was the only one I didn't get right.

To be honest for anyone who drives you should be getting most of them right, lots are common sense.

I would not like to think any driver with a full licence failed.

If you failed this test, then its about time you had another read at the highway code! Perhaps you don't own a current version of the highway code, if so just join the rest of the 76% of people with a current British driving licence who do NOT own a copy of the highway code.

Robert.

Congratulations! Now that you have pulled over safely, we’re delighted to inform you that you’ve passed this little motorway driving test. To be honest, most of these questions are very simple and based on common sense, but it’s amazing how many people out there get them wrong. Well, you’ve proved to be a safe driver, and now it’s time for your friends to take the wheel. Share this quiz with them and let’s see if they pass or fail!

started in a minivan 1970's when I could fit into it.
12/13 question 6 also which reminds me of one of my scariest moments going downhill in my old ford pop,hit a patch of ice on a bend and did a few complete turns continuing on downhill.never hit a thing and ended up pointing in the right direction and carrying on as if nothing happened .2 mates in the car were still telling that story 50 years later☺

12/13, no.6 wrong.
I'm sure there's some science behind the official answer but I'd rather err on the cautious side :)

12/13 for, got 6 wrong but the question was "If there is ice or snow on a motorway, breaking distances can increase by", but ice & snow have different stopping distances I put 5x which I believe is correct for snow, where ice it is 10x

I got 15/13!!!

Agree with others above re Q6 and am rather suspicious of the quiz when they cant spell 'braking' correctly

Without wishing to sound cocky the questions are patronisingly easy in most cases and the answers possibly wrong in some, I believe a red cross means lane ahead is closed not necessarily proceed no further in it

As I'm a pedantic sod I needed to check this, there doesn't seem to be a signal of just a red cross without flashing lights alongside, so sorry @DavidG58 but:

"Signals and variable signs may apply to individual lanes when mounted overhead or, when located on the central reservation or at the side of the motorway, to the whole carriageway. They are normally blank, but when they indicate a restriction the reason may not always be obvious. There may have been an accident ahead, so take no chances and obey the signals. When red lamps are flashing above your lane, you MUST STOP unless you can move safely to a lane where red signals are not showing.

Red lamps flashing from side to side in pairs, together with a red cross, mean “do not proceed in the traffic lane directly below”. These signals are mounted above the carriageway: there is a signal for each traffic lane. A previous signal may direct you into an adjacent lane (see page 90). More than one lane may be closed to traffic"

I was always taught 10x, there was a little rhyme for normal driving, "Only a fool breaks the 2 second rule, but if it should pour make it 4!"
Pretty sure Highway code says 10x braking distance for snow and ice.

Shows that the Highway Code isn't always right, that must be where I had seen the ten times, but to anyone who's driven on ice, as someone has already said you go till you hit something , there just can't be a set figure

Totally agree, only safe way to drive in snow and ice is DON'T! Unless you work for the emergency services, you do not have to make that journey!
