in Pays de Le Loire. First off, it's free. Next, the water is free, and if that's not enough, it's next to an amazing church, high up with 360 degree views of the surrounding countryside. And if you want to see more, you can climb the church spire (199 steps)
Parking for 20 vans and we are the only ones here. There is an Artisan Boulangerie and supermarket a few minutes away.
Why isn't it full?
(It's aire 265 in the latest Vicarious book)

Go on - for those of us who don't have the latest book - where is this great aire? Sounds like I need to put it on the list for the next trip!

Its St Michel Mont Mercure. Not far from Les Herbiers, which is worth a visit to see the windmills ( Mont les allouettes, I think)
The church has an impressive golden statue of St Michel slaying a dragon on top of the spire. It's huge.

I'll let you know tomorrow!
But, it is a church and it's all free with wonderful views. We have been next to churches that chime all night and they have never bothered us, but generally, the bells don't chime for around 4 hours after midnight. By then, I'm dead to the world.

Well, 2 more (French) vans have just turned up and the Church spire has just lit up. I'm going to have to go out with my camera.

We have a church in the village that chimes the hour and half hour all the time. I only hear it when I'm listening for it or if somebody points if out. Church clock here struck 11 a while ago. We had a bit of a tune from the bells at 7pm and the lights have just gone out. Last walk for the dogs and then off to bed.

Bells chimed at midnight then I woke at 8 with the bells chiming again. Mrs A said she heard the 6:30 chime but she was awake already. Off up the spire this morning to have a look round.

Taken from next to the van. There are a few trees around, one or two shady spots in the afternoon and one corner in the shade now. I'll post a couple more pics later

Thanks, struggling with a crappy 3G signal here. Don't know what's getting posted and what isn't!
