One year. A whole one!
We've recently discovered and fallen in love with the New Forest.

OK, so we've been going there for years as car-driving folk and we know the area well, but have only recently discovered how completely motorhome friendly the place is! Plenty of woodland parking for days out, picnics and just quality time with the family.

The two sites we have used are Black Knowl CC site near Brockenhurst. Lovely place and right on a woodland cycle network.

The other place we recently stayed at was the New Centenary CC site near Christchurch. It's a large site but with loads of avenues and doesn't appear anywhere near the size it is. Ideal for visiting Mudeford Quays or Lyndhurst. Can highly recommend The Swan Inn on the outskirts of Lyndhurst for excellent all-day food.

Now a year !
We use all of the forest sites. You can camp very cheaply at the non electric sites.
We stay and then bike about, stayed at Setthorns last week and cycled to the coast, a lovely day.
It was a 22 mile round trip, mostly flat and we took all day including lunch. The Gun inn at Hurst point has the best crab sandwiches ( sadly not in season last week:(( )

Hi - can I ask where you parked for Mudeford please? Was it the main car park where the ferry goes from? We always love going around Hengistbury Head and then down to the beach huts and back to the cafe but all the car parks on that side have height barriers. Not been able to do it since getting the mh:( but could go over on the ferry from Mudeford in the summer.
Cheers

Debs, we didn't actually park there as we were with some friends in their car on that day, but plenty of motorhomes were there and some larger than ours. They parked in the carpark by the quay, to the left of the pub. We got there by 11am and there was still plenty of parking suitable for motorhomes available. There were no height barriers anywhere.

Thanks for that, we'll have a pootle when we're there next in November, wonder if the other side of the Christchurch Harbour comes under a different council as there are lots of car parks but all with height barriers & roadside parking signs for cars & motorbikes only.....

Yes when we were at Mudeford there were MH in the car park to the left of the pub. I noticed that they had all reversed in and the overhangs were on the grass so the MH didn't take up more than one space.
Lovely place.

Mudeford is Christchurch Council and Hengistbury Head is Bournemouth Council :)

Only since 2012, but I towed for many years
I love Hollands wood. Have been there dozens of times. Good pubs and a chippie in nearby Brockenhurst.

There are a few weekend DA meets with the Waterside Group at different places in the New Forest. Don't know if they are any good for you or whether you're looking for something longer.

Not long enough!
All the ccc sites except setthorns are seasonal, so you might have to check dates.

First year under our belt!
Another thumbs-up for Setthorns here. They have nothing but electricity - no loos or showers - but it is the most 'foresty' site we've been to. Go for the Select pitches with picnic table as they're higher up on the hill, very spacious, and more secluded.

Holmsley is nice enough for its surroundings, but it's busier and more 'concrete-y' due to it being an old airfield. They do have good shower/toilet blocks though, and a little shop.

The other one we've been to is Long Meadow. It's the only other site in the forest with 'everything' but it's just a big field. There is a lovely walk from there to Brockenhurst though...

Another vote for Long Meadow.....lots of lovely walks/cycle rides direct from the site and the deer invade.
Roundhill is one we like as well but not sure if that is open when you want to go.

A few photos from our time there.

A lovely little parking spot near Lymington. We had an impromptu picnic here last week.

Black Knowl CC. Perfect for an easy walk or cycle into Lyndhurst or Brockenhurst. Lovely little site.
