the hole looks as though its missing an LED warming light also -maybe a check under/behind the console will determine if it has been pushed in.(y)

Anne. It's a button which you shouldn't touch without proper training. :)

Do you have a strikeback alarm !

With my strikeback alarm there is one as your photo which arms the internal sirens and one without the light which is for the rear bike loop.
Had the same on a previous van with strikeback alarm but not one fitted on this van

Bought a bunch of those switches on ebay, have two in a similar position, one works the radiator cooling fans over ride and one turns on reverse camera when driving.

override switch to power internal lights when the engine is running? I can only think of two ways to figure out what it does. Trace the wires or start the engine with the red light on and see what works and what doesn't. Then do the same with the led off.
Ok, that's 3
Or (4) start the engine while someone else looks round the van while you turn the switch on and off.
Of course, it could be something to do with the leisure battery charging, or solar panel, if you have one.
Not really much help was I?

Allans suggestion of getting the engine running & someone have a walk around is a good idea(y)
Ours were external spots, only lights when the ignition is on.....but if you can buy them from ebay I suppose it coukd be linked to anything:eek:
Good luck!:D

I take it this is a pre-loved van (I think that is the current politically correct term:rolleyes:), in which case has a previous owner fitted an accessory and then removed it when selling the van. In which case the switch will do nothing.
