We are going to the Netherlands in August for 14 days. We will only be driving for a total of about 40 miles in Netherlands. From the Hook to Delft. We are covered in this country.
Do I get breakdown insurance or not?

I suppose it depends on how much it would cost to get additional Europe cover. I would give whoever you are with now a ring and ask how much to upgrade. I suppose the chances of breaking down or having a prang on that 40 miles are pretty remote but God knows how much it would cost to tow you off the motorway.

As always with these things, personal choice.

Many insurance companies include European cover, have you spoke to your insurance company.

I will contact them again when we get home, I was definitely hold that we were not covered in the UK or Germany as every German has their own cover for their home country.

Adac is ok, just do not expect their French partners ACTA to do anything for you if you breakdown in France, in fact you may loose your motorhome.
